THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT!
The next one-hour special workshop for ages 9 to 14 will be held next month, i.e., in May 2024. Join my mailing list if you would like to receive email notifications about my programmes. Alternatively, follow me on social media – Facebook and Instagram – for regular updates.

I love working with poetry at my writing programmes, and I’ve written before about why it’s always fun.

Humour is often tricky, though, and although we have written funny poems in the past, I haven’t ever worked with nonsense verse. But it’s been on my mind for a while, which is why I was delighted when Anushka Ravishankar agreed to conduct a workshop on nonsense verse for us! Join us as we explore the world of nonsense and learn how to write verse that makes no sense at all.

At my book clubs, we’ve read and loved three of Anushka Ravishankar’s many books – Moin and the MonsterAt Least a Fish and Ghosts Don’t Eat. She has written dozens of other books from picture books in verse and chapter books, to retellings of folk tales and books on science and craft. Her latest books are Ogd, which is utter nonsense, A Rooster for a Pet, which seems like nonsense but is actually based on a true story and the Science for Smartypants series which is serious science as explained to a very nonsensical cat.

This promises to be a fun session, full of laughter, nonsense, and, of course, writing!

How to Rhyme without Reason is a guest session at my online creative writing programme, and is free for all my current participants. However, a few seats are also available to non-participants on payment of a fee. Sign up right away because this time, I have 23 students across my writing programmes, and they always get first preference! This means that there are only two more seats available!
