Online Creative Writing Programme (Ages 12-14) – October 22

The next one will begin in April 2023, and I will open for registrations in the first week of March.
These writing courses are conducted just twice a year – in April and in October. Each one is 12 weeks long and comprises twelve online interactions and access to a private, secure forum, where participants share work and provide feedback to one another. I give them feedback each time they submit work, and I encourage them to edit and rewrite their pieces – sometimes several times. In this sense, it is an intensive programme that requires participants to log in multiple times a week, write regularly and participate on the forum. In addition to weekly assignments, participants share relevant ideas and opinions at each stage.
If I have a minimum of four participants for each batch, I also organize guest sessions, which are open to non-participants on payment of a registration fee, but free for those who are part of my programmes. Outline
Each writing programme deals with some aspects of writing. We’ve worked with poetry, drama, nonfiction and stories in the past. During the April 2022 edition, we created a zine together for the first time. It was a rewarding experience! Take a look it here.
This time, once more, we will one issue of an e-zine together. This will allow us to explore a variety of literature and work on a range of forms, including poetry, letters, nonfiction and stories. As we write, here are a few things we will work on.
- Poetry – What is poetry? How much can we play with form, structure and rhythm?
- The rush to publish – What is publishing? What avenues are open to young writers? How can we make our work reach its best potential?
- Feedback – Every writer treasures feedback. Beta readers and critique partners are important! Through this course, we will look at the role feedback plays in shaping our writing, and the ways in which we can provide constructive feedback to one another.
